Introducing the Sacred Stories Facilitation Guide

A Free Resource for Reflection, Connection, and Interfaith Learning

I’m excited to share something that’s been growing quietly behind the scenes:
the Sacred Stories Facilitation Guide, now available as a free download.

This guide was created as a companion to The Birds and the Bs: Sacred Stories Interfaith Deck—to help stories open into conversation, reflection, and lived experience.

Whether you’re a parent reading with a child, an educator in a classroom, a counselor or chaplain holding space, or a seeker exploring on your own, this guide offers simple, meaningful ways to engage the stories with depth and intention.

Why This Guide Exists

Stories have always been how humans make meaning—especially across difference.

The Birds and the Bs draws inspiration from spiritual traditions around the world, offering modern folktales rooted in universal invitations to Be:
to believe, to belong, to become, to be calm, to be grateful, to be present, and more.

While the deck can absolutely be used on its own, I created this Facilitation Guide to provide:

  • structure for educators and facilitators

  • reflective questions for individuals and families

  • activities that integrate story, science, and spiritual wisdom

  • flexible pathways for groups, classrooms, and community settings

The intention is simple: to support introspection and connection—with self, with others, and with the sacred wisdom that unites us across traditions.

What’s Inside the Facilitation Guide

The guide includes 12 lessons, each centered on a core Be-Word from the deck.

Each lesson offers:

  • a grounding spiritual concept (drawn from global wisdom traditions)

  • reflection questions

  • experiential activities (movement, discussion, science, art, and mindfulness)

  • optional extensions for deeper exploration

The lessons are designed to be adaptable:

  • one session or multiple weeks

  • used sequentially or independently

  • appropriate for children, youth, adults, and mixed-age groups

There is no “right” way to use the guide. It’s meant to support your creativity, context, and community.

Who the Guide Is For

This guide was created with many audiences in mind:

  • Parents & Families looking for meaningful conversation starters

  • Educators & Religious Educators seeking interfaith-friendly curriculum

  • Counselors, Chaplains, & Coaches supporting reflection and emotional awareness

  • College & Interfaith Groups exploring identity, values, and belonging

  • Seekers of all ages drawn to story as a pathway inward

If you create space for reflection and dialogue, this guide is for you.

Why It’s Free

I wanted this guide to be accessible.

The heart of The Birds and the Bs is about sharing wisdom, not guarding it. By offering the Facilitation Guide freely, my hope is that more people feel empowered to use the stories—at home, in classrooms, and in communities.

If the guide resonates and you’d like to explore further, the Sacred Stories Interfaith Deck offers a natural next step.
